High-Fives
After
the competitive frisbee match, we give each other high-fives. The high-fives
are meant to signify our celebratory attitudes and reinforce the sense of
comradery we feel in the wake of our semi-athletic achievement. Most importantly
the high-fives distinguish our team as the victorious one over the team at the
opposite end of the field. By our exchanging high-fives we ensure that the
small audience of our significant others and passers-by will recognize that it
is our team and not the opposing team that has achieved victory. This is by far
the most important aspect of the high-five because, if they were paying
attention, our significant others will attain an enhanced sense of pride at our
team's victory thus strengthening our relationships with them and increasing
our chances of sexual intercourse. For those of us without significant others,
at least we will have the satisfaction of knowing the various onlookers will
appreciate our accomplishment and walk away with a vague sense of admiration
for us and for our team. The high-fives continue well into the night, at the
bar, though the intensity of each exchange grows less and less. For some of us
the high-fives continue even longer, as we lie alone in bed.
