Francis Levy's debut novel, Erotomania: A Romance, was released late August 2008 by Two Dollar Radio. Levy had originally wanted to call the book Savage Fuck, but no matter. In her favorable review, Joan Baum characterizes Erotomania as "outrageous, over-the-top porn, at times brutal and repellent" and Maggie Estep writes: "It's as if all those fantastically filthy Frenchmen (Bataille, Genet, et al) came to 21st Century America, ripped its panties with a switchblade, and made it beg for more.
Although Camus wasn't filthy enough to make the list of dirty Frenchman, Levy cleverly invokes The Stranger in this passage:
"I was going to apologize to the leader for causing the exodus, but a wave of indignation swept over me. I hadn't done anything wrong. I didn't deserve to be punished. If anything, it was they who were being rude. Hadn't I already suffered enough? Amidst all the pain, I came to the realization of how important her pussy was to me... I got a cab and headed back to the hotel."
